Why We Need Access
To effectively track your marketing performance, measure campaign results, and optimize your digital strategy, we need access to your analytics and tracking tools. This allows us to monitor website traffic, track conversions, analyze user behavior, and generate comprehensive reports—all essential for making data-driven marketing decisions and maximizing your return on investment.
What We Need Access To
Depending on your current setup, we’ll need access to one or more of the following:
- Google Analytics (GA4): To track and analyze website traffic and user behavior
- Google Tag Manager (GTM): To manage tracking codes and marketing tags
- Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel): To track conversions and optimize ad campaigns
Part 1: Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Access

Step 4: Assign Permissions
Select the appropriate role for our access:
Recommended: Editor
- View and analyze all data
- Create and edit reports and dashboards
- Configure property settings
- Create audiences and conversions
- Cannot add or remove users
- Cannot modify account-level settings
Alternative: Administrator (if you want us to have full control)

- Add and manage users
- Full administrative control
Step 5: Notify and Complete
- Check the box “Notify this user by email” (optional but recommended)
- Click “Add” to grant access
- We’ll receive a notification and confirm once we’ve accessed your Analytics property
If You Also Have Universal Analytics (Old Version)
If you’re still using the older Universal Analytics (UA) version alongside GA4:
- In Admin, select your Account in the left column
- Click “Account access management”
- Follow the same steps above to add [email protected] with Editor access
Note: Universal Analytics stopped collecting data on July 1, 2023, but historical data is still accessible.

We require Publish or Administrator access to configure, test, and publish tracking tags on your website.

- Cannot manage users or container settings
Alternative: Administrator (if full control is preferred)

Account Permissions (Optional): If granting access at the account level, also set account permissions:
- Recommend: User (can access containers within the account)
- Alternative: Admin (can manage account settings and create new containers)
Step 5: Complete the Process
- Click “Invite”
- We’ll receive an email invitation to access your GTM account
- We’ll accept and notify you once we’re ready to begin
Understanding GTM Container vs. Account Access
- Account-level access: Grants access to all containers within your GTM account
- Container-level access: Grants access to only specific containers
If you have multiple websites or containers, you can grant us access to specific containers only, or provide account-level access for easier management.

Alternative: Business Partner Access
If you’ve added us as a Business Partner (see our Meta access guide), we can request Pixel access:
- Go to Settings > Partners
- Find our agency in your Partners list
- Click “Assign assets”
- Select your Pixel and assign appropriate permissions
If You Don’t Have a Meta Pixel Yet
If you haven’t created a Facebook Pixel yet, we can help you set one up. Once you grant us access to your Facebook Business Manager (see our separate Meta access guide), we can create and configure your Pixel for you.
What Happens After You Grant Access
Once we have access to your tracking and analytics platforms:
- Google Analytics: We’ll audit your current setup, configure goals and conversions, create custom reports and dashboards, and begin analyzing your traffic patterns
- Google Tag Manager: We’ll audit existing tags, implement new tracking codes, set up conversion tracking, and test all implementations before publishing
- Meta Pixel: We’ll verify pixel installation, configure custom events, set up conversion tracking, and create custom audiences for retargeting
Verifying Your Current Setup
Not sure if you already have these tools installed? We can help:
Check for Google Analytics:
- Look for a “GA4-” tracking ID in your website’s code
- Check your website backend for Analytics integrations
Check for Google Tag Manager:
- Look for “GTM-” container ID in your website’s code
- View your page source and search for “googletagmanager.com”
Check for Meta Pixel:
- Install the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension
- Visit your website and check if the extension detects a pixel
If you’re unsure about your current setup, let us know and we’ll help you identify what’s already installed.
Security and Privacy Notes
Your data security and privacy compliance are important:
- We cannot delete your Analytics properties or GTM containers
- We cannot access any personally identifiable information beyond what’s configured in your tracking
- You can revoke our access at any time through the respective admin panels
- All changes we make in GTM are versioned and can be rolled back if needed
